Hey everyone! It’s Zeny Liz and I’m here to share with you how I made my project for this month’s theme “Anything goes”.
I’ve always been a fan of Prima Marketing’s Travel Journals and I’m so happy that I got the Travel Holic – Starter Journal Set from Pretty Paper Studio for this month’s DT Kit. My first ever planner / journal in plain black color. Its so elegant! And I love that fact that I can take it with me anywhere, even on my meetings and site visits.
I immediately set it up with My Prima Marketing’s cardstocks, moved some of the inserts from my Jet Setter.
Look how gorgeous she is!
After dressing it up, I started to create my layouts.
I made a wreath using Prima’s Watercolor Confections – The Classics and Aquash Pentel Waterbrush – Fine tip. Then I lettered with Tombow Fudenosuke Brush pen.
Then, I applied a light watercolor wash background and added some letters using my brush pen and Alpha stickers from KaiserCraft to complete my November Dashboard.
Then, I went ahead and worked on the next page. I applied Prima Marketing’s Heavy Gesso in White (from my previous DT Kits) using my plastic knife on areas where I plan to do a lot of watercoloring. I allowed it to dry. Then, I applied (a little heavy) watercolor wash background. Hence the use of the primer. I’ve chosen colors that are matching with the cardstocks. Tip: Select colors that will compliment with the photo or ephemera which you plan to use. Background colors should always make your subject stand out.
While waiting for the watercolor to dry up, I made some DIY stencils using watercolor paper and my Silhouette Cameo. I made a simple pattern (in circles) and used it upon applying another layer of the gesso. It created a stunning effect on my layout. Then I adhered our Family photo and made a gold border for it with finetec gold.
I adhered the “smile” sentiment from Prima Marketing cardstocks on top as it matches with the color scheme. “Smile” is exactly what I do whenever I see this photo.
I lettered some more sentiments and splattered Finetec Gold on top of it.
Then, I continued designing and decorating the next page. I, once again, applied the gesso, then made some loose florals on top of it using the same watercolor and Finetec gold paint.
This page is where I will write all the things that I am grateful for. They say that performing simple daily acts of gratitude can have a big impact on your health and happiness. Writing them only takes a few minutes a day, but you wont believe the positive impact it can give you. I encourage you to give it a try.
I splattered Finetec Gold paint on top and Lettered the days with my brush pen.
I’m now ready to keep track of the good things in my life.
There you have it! I hope you enjoyed reading and I can’t wait to share with you more of my creations! Until next time.
xoxo, Zeny Liz
