Coloring challenge: Treasure Valley

Written by Donna Ong

Hello everyone! Donna here to kick off this month’s challenge with a brand new layout to inspire you.

For the month of August, the theme is all about “COLORING”.

Use your favorite medium on your project. From coloring pens, pencils, watercolors, gelatos, or markers, you can use whatever you desire. Indicate in your entry what type/kind you used and how (Example: Tombow markers – stamping, drawing… etc.)

This is my layout to give you an idea!

I used watercolor pencils, Tombow markers and color shine spray mist on my layout.

The Tombow marker added a touch of color to the modeling paste when you mix it together. It’s really subtle, but you’ll notice it coz the paste is not the usual white. Just brush on a surface like plastic or similar and mix it with the modeling paste.

A touch of coral and blue is a nice combination. I used the blue Tombow marker to stamp around the layers/clusters. Dry in between layers of misting and stamping.

Finally, I drew this hot air balloon to add something on the right side of the layout. I got inspired by the hot air balloons prints on the paper collection I used. I just realized I could have made it more look like a hot air balloon lol! It’s wonky but it’s my first time to do this and I think it’s fun! I first traced with a pencil (light strokes only) and then used watercolor pencils afterwards. I let it dry before using the blue and yellow Tombow markers. I smeared each color with a bit of water.

I hope you liked my page for today!

Here’s what you have to do to play along this month:
